Faculty of Medical Sciences concluded General Cooperation Agreement with School of Medicine, University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain

The Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Fukui concluded a general cooperation agreement with the School of Medicine, University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, and held a signing ceremony on March 29 at the Matsuoka Campus. The University of Castilla-La Mancha is a public university located in Ciudad Real, Castilla-La Mancha, near Madrid, the capital of Spain. It was established in 1982.

Since 2001, Professor FUKAZAWA Yugo of the Department of Brain Structure and Function, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Fukui, and Professor Rafael Miras Luj¨¢n of the Synaptic Structure Laboratory, IDINE School of Medicine, the University of Castilla-La Mancha, have been collaborating and conducting research together.

At the signing ceremony, Dean FUJIEDA Shigeharu of the Faculty of Medical Sciences said, “This is our first academic agreement with a Spanish university. I hope this agreement will lead to further development of both universities through various exchanges in the future.” Professor FUKAZAWA also commented, “I have conducted basic research with Professor Lujan on the neurotransmission mechanism and Alzheimer’s disease. With the signing of this agreement, we would like to expand the range of collaboration into clinical research and medical education in the future,” expressing his enthusiasm for the exchange.

University of Fukui, now has 168 partner universities/institutions in 40 countries/regions, and further deepen research and international exchanges among researchers and students.
