On June 19, 2023, University of Fukui (UF) invited Ms. YOSHIKAWA Harumi, a kimono dressing instructor, to award a Certificate of Appreciation for her contribution to international exchange and promoting Japanese cultures to international students at UF for many years.
President UEDA Takanori presented the Certificate of Appreciation in acknowledgement of her great contribution and services for international students such as her generous supports to participate in kimono dressing contests each year. Ms. YOSHIKAWA commented, “I am honored to receive this Certificate of Appreciation. All the international students I have taught are very enthusiastic about kimono and kimono dressing. They even bring Japanese students to my classes. I would like to continue the same activities so that students can enjoy wearing kimonos casually even after graduation.” Ms. Pauline Pfeifer, an alumna of the Graduate School of Professional Development of Teachers, UF, who now resides in Tokyo, was also present at the ceremony and reported that she had won the world kimono dressing contest under the guidance of Ms. YOSHIKAWA for nearly 10 years since she was a student at UF.
UF will continue to support international students and promote active international exchanges.
