International Friendship Swimming and SUP Experience for International Students Held for the First Time in Five Years

On August 7 and 8, 2024, the 19th International Friendship Swimming and SUP Experience for International Students was held for the first time in five years. This annual suumer event was held at Wakasa Wada Beach, the only Blue Flag certified beach in the prefecture, with the cooperation and support of the Wakasa Takahama Tourism Association, as in the past two events. The purpose of this project is to promote the Wakasa-Takahama area to increase inbound tourism and to provide a variety of experiences in various parts of Fukui to help international students settle in the prefecture. It is also expected that international students actively communicate with each other and share the joy of their experiences through their own social networking sites.

Thanks to experienced instructors, international students who are not good at swimming were able to enjoy the SUP experience safely. The two days were also filled with memorable and fun experiences, such as watermelon splitting, a summer tradition in Japan that has become rare nowadays, and fireworks at the beach at night.
